Tom Holland confirms Spider-Man 3 is filming – CNET

Sony Pictures Entertainment

Tom Holland isn't limiting his social media hype to Uncharted: The actor on Sunday shot an Instagram Stories video confirming he's about to start shooting Spider-Man 3, the sequel to 2017's Homecoming and 2019's Far From Home. The Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, which doesn't have an official title yet, is due out Dec. 17, 2021

"OK, so we just landed in Atlanta, and it's time for Spider-Man 3!" an excited Holland said through a red mask. "Let's go!"

We know Jon Watts, who directed Homecoming and Far From Home, is returning to helm this movie, along with Zendaya as MJ, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Jacob Batalon as Ned and Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson.

Reported castings have suggested that Spider-Man 3 will give us a live-action Spider-Verse, with Jamie Foxx seemingly reprising his role as Electro -- the villain of 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which wasn't part of the MCU. It's possible Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, who's reportedly going to be Spidey's new mentor in the movie, will have the answers about Electro's arrival.

It's likely that J.K. Simmons' J. Jonah Jameson, a character from the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy who made a surprise appearance in Far From Home, will return as well.

The next MCU movie we'll likely see is Black Widow, which was delayed to May 21, 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic. It'll be followed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on July 9 and Eternals on Nov. 21.
