Struggling HTC Rolls Out Mid-Tier Devices

Asian smartphone maker HTC is working hard to turn around its performance. The latest effort from the company is a line of more affordable devices.

HTC just released four Desire LTE smartphones: the HTC Desire 626 (pictured forefront, left), HTC Desire 626s, HTC Desire 526 (pictured background, right) and HTC Desire 520. The companyEUs stated goal is to make premium smartphones EUaffordable and accessibleEU to everyone. The devices carry many features from the higher-end HTC One M9.

EUAt HTC, we donEUt think you should have to sacrifice or settle if you are looking for an affordable smartphone,EU said Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC America. Although HTC did not announce pricing, industry watchers suggest the smartphones will fall below the $200 price point.

These Are Not HTC One Quality

Here are some specs: The HTC Desire 626 and HTC Desire 626s have 5-inch screens and come in several colors. The HTC Desire 526 has a 4.7-inch screen and comes in stealth black. The HTC Desire 520 has a 4.5-inch screen and comes in steel gray.

The HTC Desire line comes with an 8MP primary camera and video captured by HD 720p video recording capabilities, as compared to the 1080p video recording capabilities the high-end phones offer. The HTC Desire 626 has a 5MP front-facing camera while the HTC Desire 626s, HTC Desire 526 and HTC Desire 520 each come with a 2MP front-facing camera. All are LTE devices with quad-core processors and carry a 2000 mAh battery and expandable memory. These are definitely not on par with the HTC one, but then again neither are the price tags.
