Samsung Launches Notebook 7 Spin, a Fast-Charging 2-in-1

Aimed at "multimedia enthusiasts," the new Notebook 7 Spin 2-in-1 was launched in the U.S. by Samsung today in partnership with Best Buy. Available with either a 13.3-inch or 15.6-inch display, the hefty laptop weighs in at 3.9 pounds and 5 pounds, respectively.

While that might not appeal to every mobile business warrior, the device comes with other features designed to attract movie viewers, gamers and hard-core Web surfers.

Those features include fast charging that can boost battery life by up to two hours in just 20 minutes, an HD touch-screen with Video HDR mode for "sharper" images and an auto backlit keyboard designed for easier typing in low light. As its name suggests, the Notebook 7 Spin can be flipped or detached from the keyboard to operate in three modes: notebook, tent or tablet.

1 TB Hard Drive Storage

Arriving Sunday at and, as well as at Best Buy retail stores, the Notebook 7 Spin will be priced starting at $799.99 for the 8 GB, 13.3-inch model powered by a sixth-generation Intel Core i5 processor.

The 15.6-inch model, which features a sixth-generation Intel Core i7 processor, comes with either 12 GB ($999.99) or 16 GB ($1199.99) of memory. All three models also offer 1 TB of hard drive storage. The larger models can be fully charged in only 90 minutes, while the smaller model takes 100 minutes to achieve a full charge, according to Samsung.

Users can also boost the performance of the Notebook 7 Spin further by adding an SSD to reduce load times or by upgrading the device's RAM. Such features help make the Spin a "multimedia laptop that is ready for today and built for tomorrow," noted Gary Riding, senior vice president for product marketing at Samsung Electronics America, in a statement.
