Red Hat Doubles Down on Cloud With OpenStack Platform 8 and Cloud Suite

Two new products from Red Hat announced today are aimed squarely at helping enterprise clients deploy private clouds. Red Hat Cloud Suite and Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8 are each designed to offer companies a complete solution for building and deploying private clouds, the company said.

?EU?As development teams look to streamline the creation and deployment of new cloud-native applications while transforming their computing infrastructure, Red Hat?EU?s newest OpenStack-based private cloud solutions provide an open foundation to meet production-level needs of today?EU?s modern businesses,?EU? the company said in a statement.

Now Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8 (pictured above) includes infrastructure and workload management, while the new Red Hat Cloud Suite offers software-defined storage and risk management and analytics, according to Red Hat.

Focusing on OpenStack

The new Red Hat products were announced a week before the OpenStack Summit in Austin, Texas and as OpenStack is becoming an increasingly important part of the company?EU?s business. Red Hat said its customers expect private cloud deployments to outpace public cloud deployments by a factor of six.

The newest version of Red Hat?EU?s leading OpenStack offering adds optimized storage and management capabilities through the native inclusion of Red Hat Ceph Storage and Red Hat CloudForms, respectively. Cloud Suite, meanwhile, consists of a pre-integrated set of Red Hat?EU?s cloud technologies that allow for cloud-native application development and deployment with the inclusion of OpenShift.

The OpenStack Platform will provide cloud technologies as a single infrastructure-as-a-service platform, while Cloud Suite will provide an integrated offering. OpenStack Platform 8, which will form the backbone of Red Hat?EU?s hybrid cloud offerings, is based on the OpenStack community?EU?s ?EU?Liberty?EU? release.
