Microsoft Shakes Up Senior Leadership Team

In what itEUs calling an EUalignment of engineering teams to strategy,EU Microsoft is shaking up its senior leadership ranks. And this shakeup is not for the faint of heart.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella (pictured above) on Wednesday sent an e-mail to employees outlining the changes. The reorganization aims to drive engineering alignment against the companyEUs core ambitions: reinventing productivity and business processes, building the intelligent cloud platform, and creating more personal computing. The key word repeatedly through the announcement is "alignment."

Total Realignment

So whatEUs changing, exactly? Microsoft is doing some things totally differently. For starters, Executive Vice President Terry Myerson will now lead a newly formed team, the Windows and Devices Group. His team will focus on enabling more Windows ecosystem-powered personal computing experiences. The new team combines the engineering efforts of the current Operating Systems Group and Microsoft Devices Group.

Executive Vice President Scott Guthrie will continue to lead the Cloud and Enterprise (C+E) team focused on building the intelligent cloud platform. The C+E team will also focus on building infrastructure and business services key to business process management. Microsoft is putting a special emphasis on data and analytics, security and management, and development tools.

All this means that Microsoft will move the Dynamics development teams to the C+E team so it can accelerate ERP (enterprise resource planning) and CRM (customer relationship management) work and bring it into the mainstream C+E engineering and innovation efforts.
