LG G4 Brings Professional Camera to Smartphone

The cover is finally off LG's much-hyped G4 smartphone, which is being billed as the company's most ambitious smartphone yet. If the success of the LG G3 is any indication, the next evolution of the flagship device should find plenty of traction in the mobile market. The G3 won industry awards, including Best Smart Phone of the Year by the GSMA at the Global Mobile Awards, and exceeded LGEUs sales projections.

LG has three goals with the G4: comfortable elegance, a strong visual presentation, and a human-centric user experience. It all starts with a 16-megapixel camera that features an F1.8 aperture lens for professional-looking images and a new 5.5-inch IPS "Quantum" display that promises high quality.

Headline-Making Camera

One of the most unique aspects of the G4 is its genuine, full-grain leather covering that comes in six colors. If you donEUt want leather, you can opt for a traditional white, gray or gold backing.

LG points to what it calls the "slim arc" of its design. This arc runs along the body and the display even has a slight curve. LG said this is more than a design feature that makes the phone comfortable to hold. The curve also promises 20 percent better durability than flat smartphones when dropped face down.

G4 sports a manual mode so experienced photographers can tap into their creativity, controlling the shutter speed, focus, ISO, white balance and exposure for each shot. Professional photographers can save images in RAW format, as well as JPEG so they can edit them without losing...
