Lenovo Taps EMC for Converged Infrastructure

Computer technology company Lenovo is tapping into EMCEUs cloud infrastructure solutions to provide reference architectures designed to make it easier for businesses to build private clouds and virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI). The company just broke the news that its Flex System can now power EMC VSPEX reference architectures for private clouds and VDIs.

EMC VSPEX by Flex System for Private Cloud and EMC VSPEX by Flex System for VDI work to address challenges for both enterprise and mid-market consumers -- challenges like lowering total cost of ownership, driving faster deployments, and simplifying management.

LenovoEUs Flex System-based reference architectures -- along with two updated ThinkServer-based offerings crafted for small and midsize businesses and soon-to-be released System x-based offerings -- aim to provide a full portfolio of Lenovo x86 server-based EMC VSPEX reference architectures for private clouds and VDIs.

The Flex System is an enterprise-ready solution that lets mid-size and large businesses "focus their energies on strategic growth initiatives rather than resource intensive deployment, management and configuration tasks,EU said Mike Gebele, vice president of Server Systems and Marketing, Enterprise Business Group at Lenovo.

EMC VSPEX reference architectures promise to help reduce capital expenditures through validated designs, higher system utilization, streamlined cabling, and fewer network connections. They also work to slash operating expenses by consolidating management tools and creating administrative task efficiencies, which frees IT engineers and architects to focus on more critical business needs.

EMC VSPEX by Flex System for Private Cloud has been designed to support virtual machine (VM) environments from 200 to 1,000 VMs. And LenovoEUs Flex System chassis supports in-place upgrades that make it possible for customers to quickly upgrade with the latest technology. EMC VSPEX by Flex System for VDI is an end-user computing infrastructure solution that lets IT managers deploy, manage, and maintain thousands of employee desktops from a...
