IBM Makes BYOD Bet on Fiberlink

In its latest bring-your-own-device (BYOD) play, IBM is snapping up Fiberlink Communications. But how will the mobile management and security company fit into Big BlueEUs portfolio?

Fiberlink's MaaS360 cloud-based technologies will expand IBMEUs BYOD capabilities. With the acquisition, IBM MobileFirst, the companyEUs mobile management and security solution, will now include trusted transactions and security intelligence capabilities for mobile apps, users, content and data. Financial terms were not disclosed.

More Flexible Mobile Experiences

MaaS360 will become part of IBMEUs software-as-a-service portfolio of more than 100 cloud services. IBM plans to offer MaaS360 on the IBM SoftLayer cloud infrastructure.

Big Blue promised organizations can break free from one-size-fits-all security strategies and create more flexible, personalized mobile experiences that balance enterprise security with user privacy.
