E3 2014: 10 Highlights from Electronic Entertainment Expo

As usual, day one of the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was filled with some of the gaming industry's biggest announcements. The event, which runs June 10-12 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, featured presentations on the first day from Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and many others, showing where they are heading over the next 12 months.

Each of the big players announced new games and devices to give gamers a preview of what to expect. Here's our take on ten of the biggest announcements from first day of the E3 Expo.

Destiny Bundle

Sony kicked off its presentation by announcing a new bundle that will include sci-fi shooter Destiny, a white PS4, and 30 days of PlayStation Plus. The beta version of Destiny will launch on July 17, but those who are interested can access the alpha version next week. Sony's Destiny bundle will be launching on September 9.

New PS4 Games

Trailers for multiple upcoming PS4 games were shown during Sony's presentation. Dead Island 2, Far Cry 4, Magicka 2, and Little Big Planet 3 received special treatment from the company. Little Big Planet 3 will launch with new characters, and Far Cry 4's co-op mode has been confirmed. All of the games will be released between late 2014 and mid 2015.

PlayStation Now Beta Expands

PlayStation Now, Sony's video game rental service, will enter into an open beta on the PS4 starting July 31. At least 100 titles will be available through Now when it launches. The service allows people to rent and stream games to their consoles.

Nintendo Amiibo
