In its "Critical Capabilities" report, Gartner compared seven endpoint backup products in two common use cases: mobile-workforce-centric and office-workforce-centric. The products were analyzed based on 11 critical capabilities, with the goal of helping IT leaders narrow their enterprise endpoint backup product shortlists.
The capabilities considered in the report included PC OS diversity, PC content restore/migration, mobile device support, scalability, data reduction techniques, performance, security, user experience, back-end server/storage capabilities, proven cloud presence, and e-discovery functions.
According to the report, EUThe increased mobile work options and adoption of BYOD [bring your own device] are increasing security risks. As a result, we are seeing greater interest in deploying endpoint backup from large organizations, including well-known technology companies."
