Brocade Adds Mobile Analytics to Portfolio

Network solutions provider Brocade has acquired the mobile network visibility and analytics technology assets of Vistapointe in an all-cash transaction. Terms of the deal were not disclosed Monday. Vistapointe, which has offices in the United States, Ireland and India, makes software-based, carrier-grade network visibility and analytics products for mobile operators, using network functions virtualization (NFV) architectures.

"With the massive growth in connected devices and the dominance of data in mobile networks, network visibility and analytics will be more important than ever," said Jason Nolet, Brocade's vice president of switching, routing and analytics products. "And, as mobile operators continue the aggressive pace at which they intend to adopt software networking solutions, they will benefit from complementary, NFV-based analytics tools to improve subscriber quality of experience and security while also dramatically reducing costs."

The transaction means the Vistapointe technologies are being incorporated into a new Network Visibility and Analytics group reporting to Nolet. The Vistapointe acquisition also complements the existing Brocade MLX-based IP telemetry line to offer mobile operators a network intelligence product that can help areas ranging from network packet brokers to analytics applications.
